Huiru Deng (Frances Tang), the eldest of five children, was born on December 2, 1922 in Hong Kong. She graduated from Maryknoll Convent School in 1941. Afterwards, she worked for the British Army as a typist from 1942 to 1945 in Guilin, China during WWII. She then moved to Shanghai to work for the US Air Force 14 and later the Civil Air Transport (CAT) as a typist from 1946 to 1948. She moved to Hong Kong in 1948 and worked as a secretary at a private firm. She married in 1949 and resigned to devote her time to raise her two daughters and one son. She was always generous and willing to help others. She helped care for her younger siblings and provided financial support to help them achieve higher education. In 1988, she and her husband moved to the US to be closer with their children and grandchildren. They both spent time raising their grandsons, reading, and gardening. She was so thrilled to enjoy time with her great grandson in her final days. Frances was in strong health throughout her life until she was recently diagnosed with bile duct cancer. After almost three months of treatment and care, she left this world peacefully on September 10, 2017 to be with God and her husband. Although she is no longer with us, her passion, compassion, smiles, and love will remain with us forever.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service for Frances on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077.
